Restricted Countries: How Crypto Casinos Write the United Kingdom Into Their Terms

How many of the hundred publish a restricted-country list at all?

Thirty-eight. A hundred brands were opened on 26 August 2026 and only thirty-eight had a restricted-country list that could be read end to end in their own documents. Of those thirty-eight, twenty-nine name the United Kingdom. Nine do not.

That ratio is the single most useful number a British reader can carry into a comparison table, because it inverts the assumption most tables are built on. The default is not acceptance with a few exceptions. The default, among the brands whose documents can actually be read, is a written prohibition.

This page is about the wording: what the clause is called, how Britain is spelled inside it, where the sentence stops, and which copy of the document you were served. What the ban covers geographically, and at what moment it is applied, are separate questions and are not answered here.

What is the clause even called?

There is no standard name for it, which is the first practical obstacle to checking anything. The same commitment appears under at least eight different headings across the thirty-eight documents, and a reader searching for one of them will miss the other seven.

Only one brand in that table gives the block a clause number in the document itself: Wild Fortune, at 2.4. The rest run the list under a heading with no numbering, so there is nothing to cite back at anyone later except the heading and the date the page was read.

A commitment you cannot cite by number is still a commitment, but it is a harder one to hold anybody to.

Why do twelve of these contracts ban Britain in the same sentence?

Twelve of the twenty-nine use one formula, word for word: users from the following countries and their territories, the phrase «Restricted Countries» in quotation marks, and then the words «are not allowed to deposit and play real money games». The twelve are 7Bit Casino, BitStarz, Bitdreams, CryptoLeo, Mirax, Nine Casino, Oshi Casino, PlayAmo, Slotum, Wild.io, Winz.io and Bitkingz.

Identical wording across twelve separate brands is not a coincidence of drafting style, and the licence registers say why. Five of the twelve sit on one Anjouan registration, ALSI-202508056-FI2: Oshi Casino, PlayAmo, Slotum, Winz.io and Bitkingz. Two more share the Curacao entry OGL/2024/1307/0748, 7Bit Casino and Mirax. Two more share OGL/2024/1267/0760, CryptoLeo and Nine Casino.

So nine of the twelve resolve to three registrations. The sentence about Britain was not written twelve times by twelve compliance teams weighing up the British market; it was written once and deployed across a portfolio of front ends, which is also how the game lobbies, the bonus tables and the support scripts tend to arrive.

Treating those twelve as twelve independent verdicts on the United Kingdom overstates the evidence by a factor of four. The company behind each number is set out on licence and registers.

Does the list end where it appears to end?

Frequently not. Four of the documents attach an opening phrase that makes the list illustrative rather than exhaustive, and the phrasing is easy to read past.

• Empire.io: «including» Afghanistan, Australia, Curacao, Estonia, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Syria, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, United States of America.

The consequence runs one way only. Where the country is named, the position is settled. Where it is absent from an open-ended list, nothing has been settled at all, because the operator has reserved the right to treat the list as incomplete.

An absent name is the absence of a finding, not the presence of a permission.

Which copy of the document did you actually read?

Eight of the thirty-eight lists were served from a URL carrying a locale segment, and the text that came back matched the locale rather than the reader. LeeBet’s list was captured in Russian, with the United Kingdom appearing as «Soedinennoye Korolevstvo» in a sentence that also names Austria, France and its territories, Germany, the Netherlands and their territories, Spain and the Union of the Comoros. Playbet.io’s came back in Portuguese from a /pt-BR/ path. The Sportsbet.io restricted-jurisdictions page returned Arabic. Instant Casino’s withdrawal ceiling of four thousand euro a day was read in Italian from a Norwegian-language path, /no/om-oss/.

Three more sat on regional paths in English: Mirax at /en-AU/, Oshi Casino and Slotum at /en-CA/. Bitkingz and Windice served their terms from /de/.

This matters for a reader in Britain in a way that has nothing to do with translation quality. A regionalised terms page can carry a regionalised list, and the version that governs an account is the version the operator applies, not the one a search engine happened to surface. Where a clause number is quoted anywhere on this site, it is quoted with the URL it was read from and the date, for exactly that reason.

What do the nine lists that omit the United Kingdom contain?

Six of the nine contain four entries or fewer. Bitcasino.io’s readable list names one country, Japan. Bitsler’s names American Samoa. Coins.Game names the Netherlands. Stake names the United States. Cloudbet names Australia and Belgium. Primedice names Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria.

A four-entry list is not a restricted-country policy; it is a fragment of one, and it should be recorded as a reading that did not complete rather than as a finding about the operator. The three substantial ones are BetPlays at fifteen entries, CoinCasino at thirty-six and Bets.io at forty-two, and none of the three names Britain in the copy captured on 26 August 2026.

Bets.io is worth one further line, because the same brand’s Curacao entry read as Revoked on the same day. A silent restricted list and a revoked registration are two different problems, and the second one does not go away because the first one looks convenient.

What to do with the wording once you have found it

Open the terms, search for «restricted», then for «blacklisted», then for «prohibited», then for «eligibility», because the block hides under all four. Read the sentence that introduces the list before reading the list, since that is where «but not limited to» lives. Check the URL in the address bar for a locale segment. Then note the date, because a list with no clause number and no version history can change without leaving a trace.
